自身初となるオンライン展示 [PUBLIC EXHIBITION] を開催致します。2020年春頃から新型コロナウィルス感染拡大により、閉鎖された室内での様々な催しがキャンセルされてきました。そしてその出来事は私に公共の屋外空間の重要性を気づかせ、且つ自身の目標であるパブリックアートの可能性をより大きく感じさせてくれました。

私はパブリックには２つの意味があると考えます。１つは「公共の屋外空間である」ということ。もう一つは21世紀のパブリック「オンラインである」ということです。

この２つのパブリックを兼ね備えることにより、そこへアクセスできる人の数は無制限に広がります。

これまで私は屋内の会場で個展を開催してきましたが、外出が制限される今の状況の中、より多くの人に作品を見て知って頂くために今回は特別にオンライン展示にすることに決めました。

2020年の夏、作品制作を始めるためにカメラを持って街を歩き始めました。最初は作品に使えるフォトジェニックな風景が撮れればいいとだけ思っていましたが、歩きつづけていると空白の看板や空き家が多く目に入ります。そこで感染拡大による街の変化に気づき始め、それも作品の中に収めようと考え始めます。この内容は３章の「夜の街」でご覧頂けます。

2020年の東京の備忘録として、10年後、20年後に見たときにどんな意味を持ちうるか想像しながら制作しました。街歩きをする感覚でお楽しみください。

This is my first online exhibition [PUBLIC EXHIBITION]. Since the spring of 2020, various events in closed rooms or halls have been canceled due to the spread of the COVID-19 infection. And it made me realize the importance of public outdoor space and feel the potential of public art, which is my goal as an artist.

I think public has two meanings. One is that it is a "public outdoor space." The other is the 21st century version of public "online".

By combining these two publics, the number of people who can access my exhibition will be unlimited.

Until now, I have held solo exhibitions at indoor venues, but under the current situation where going out is restricted, I decided to make it online so that more people can see and know my work. 

In the summer of 2020, I started walking around the city with my camera to begin making works. At first, I just wanted to take a photogenic landscape that I could use for my work, but as I continued walking, I saw many blank signs and vacant venues. Then, I began to notice the changes in the city, and to think about including them in the work. You can see this content in Chapter 3, “Yoru no machi”.

As a memorandum of Tokyo in 2020, I made it while imagining  what it means 10 or 20 years later. Please enjoy it as if you were walking around the city.
